Municipality of Bifrost Riverton

Betsy Ramsay Gravesite - located in the Sandy Bar area, it is a municipal heritage site honouring John and Betsy Ramsay, for their help with the early settlers in the area.

The Friðrika Björnsdóttir grave is on private property at the homestead known as Árskógur, just north of Riverton on Road 20E. An interpretive panel telling the story of the could-be Danish princess immigrant is located in Centennial Park on Main Street in the community of Riverton. Historical Site Monument - located east of Arborg on Hwy 68, honours Johann Magnus Bjarnason, noted pioneer, author, poet and teacher, who exemplified his countrymen's high regard for culture and literacy which helped them to endure and overcome the hardships of pioneer life.

Icelandic River Bridge- located in the Village of Riverton, spanning the Icelandic River this is the 4th bridge built to provide access between the two sides of Riverton. Gorgeous when bathed in its LED night lightening this bridge has a seating area for you to enjoy.  

The Riverton Transportation & Heritage Museum on Main Street in the community of Riverton (next to our moose) is open seasonally from 11am to 3pm daily. Housed in a restored CPR station originally built in the 1900s, the Museum displays the history of Riverton and the surrounding community through artifacts, photos and stories. Restored caboose on the property, and hosts outdoor bbq’s and musical performances throughout the summer.

Statue of Sigtryggur Jonasson- Nestled beside the Icelandic River Bridge you will find the new statue that celebrates Sigtryggur Jonasson as the " The Father of New Iceland" 

Recreation & Community places:

Arborg Aquatic Park - opened in 2009 and features water slides, spray park and an Olympic size swimming pool.  

"Lundi" Moose - is a statue of Manitoba's largest moose recently erected on the grounds of the Riverton Transportation & Heritage Center. The Town of Arborg and the Village of Riverton offer baseball diamonds, playground, parks, hockey arenas and curling rinks.
