Volunteers help save Manitoba's wetlands with special outdoor evening

Interlake Tourism members attend Travel Mb. Provincial awards Gala- One comes home with the Award!

The Interlake Tourism members were well represented in 5 catagories from among 27 finalists at the annual Travel Mb. Provincial Tourism Awards. As the industry from around Manitoba gathered to await the announcements of winners in each of nine (9) categories the Interlake was well represented with our regional winners in place from the ITA 2010 Celebratin of Stars. Leading the charge this year for the Interlake was the West Interlake Trading Company.

First Signature Experience for the Interlake Region

The Canadian Tourism Commission has added 28 businesses to it's list of Canadian Signature Experiences, a collection of attractions used by the Crown corporation, tour operators and travel agents to promote Canada internationally. There are 181 Canadian Signature Experiences. The new members are listed at http://bit.ly/1dyOvJy, and the others at http://bit.ly/1exGVvR.

Province to chip in $150K for Lake Winnipeg

Continued provincial funding for the Lake Winnipeg Research Consortium was announced Friday. Conservation and Water Stewardship Minister Gord Mackintosh said in a prepared statement $150,000 will be provided to the consortium. As part of the governmentâs multi-faceted efforts to restore the health of Lake Winnipeg, we understand the critical role scientific research plays in achieving this goal, said Mackintosh. Our government is pleased to provide the Lake Winnipeg Research Consortium with $150,000 to help support scientific research on the lake and provide education and outreach to raise awareness of the lake's ecology.
