Gimli Glider Exhibit
Opening officially on July 23rd, 2017 the Gimli Glider Exhibit celebrates one of the long-remembered moments in Aviation history- the historic landing of a jumbo jet carrying 69 passengers and crew which had run out of fuel north of Winnipeg Manitoba.
On July 23rd, 1983 Captain Bob Pearson remembered a skill learned in Gliding School and used it successfully to land this jumbo jetliner like a small glider would be landed. It was successful, it made aviation history, changed commercial aviation forever and put Gimli on the world map of aviation happenings.
“As of July 23rd, 2018 on the 35th Anniversary of the Gimli Glider landing, this day has been proclaimed to be Gimli Glider Day in Gimli!”
Open now at 119B 1st Ave. , Gimli, Manitoba (It is in the Lakeview Gimli Resort )
