Honourable Rob Moore visits the Interlake Tourism Association
Manitoba’s Interlake region showcases the natural beauty of this region of Canada. Our government is working to promote a strong tourism industry so that more visitors can enjoy our country’s natural wonders,” stated James Bezan.
Following lunch Minister of State Moore spoke saying “Our government supports the great potential of Manitoba’s tourism industry as you are helping to create jobs”. “The economy remains the top priority of the Government of Canada”, stated Minister Moore.
He spoke of the Canadian Tourism Council’s role in expanding our reach to a new market as the Approved Destination Status from China is opening up many doors. With tourism representing 2% of the gross domestic product and generating approximately 617,000 jobs tourism is truly a revenue generator that needs to be noted.
Gail McDonald, Manager of ITA spoke briefly on the role of the tourism association in the Interlake followed by a video presentation on the wonders of the Interlake. Our visitors were certainly impressed with the Interlake “hidden gems” and all stated they would love to return in the summer months to be able to explore these places.
A question & answer session followed with the Minister promising to follow up on some issues brought forth.
