Lockport Dam Family Festival receives funding

“The Lockport Dam Family Festival gives residents of rural Manitoba the opportunity to see some of the best talent our province has to offer,” said Bezan. “It also attracts visitors from near and far, which helps boost tourism in the region and contributes to our local economy.”

The festival will be receiving $5,700 to help with the event, which is run by the Lockport Community Marketing Corporation. The festival itself is set to take place in Lockport from Sept. 13-15, and the activities include music performances on an outdoor stage, an artisan exhibition, as well as a heritage display highlighting the history of the Red River Settlement.

The money awarded to the Lockport Festival by the Government of Canada was through the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program. This program was initiated to provide more opportunities to take part in local activities that present arts and culture, as well as celebrate local history and heritage.
