Association Manager – Contract Position

Location: Remote (Manitoba residents only)
Contract Value: $55,000–$69,000/year
Contract Type: Temporary (12-month contract, with the possibility of renewal)

What You’ll Do:
As the Contract Association Manager, you’ll take the lead in these areas:
- Administration

- Oversee ITA’s operations, communications, and office management.
- Manage financial records, budgets, and reporting in collaboration with Association Partners, the Treasurer and the bookkeeper.
- Organize Board meetings and events like the Annual General Membership Meeting.
- Secure grants and funding opportunities to enhance regional tourism initiatives.
- Supervise and manage sub-contractors, as approved by the Board.
- Membership Support and Acquisition
- Maintain and grow the ITA’s membership base.
- Coordinate networking events and promote exclusive “members only” benefits.
- Manage and deliver the ITA awards event and other key events.
- Marketing, Promotions and Brand Management
- Identify and implement opportunities to market the Interlake region;
- Manage and maintain the ITA website, ensuring functionality;
- At the direction of the Board, develop and implement all internal and external communication strategies;
- Implement brand development and marketing initiatives to effectively position the ITA as a key and highly desirable location to visit;
- Plan, coordinate, and track all print and digital communications, including social media, brochures, maps, travel guides, signage, and other items;
- Maintain an organized and accessible photo and video library;
- Manage and develop content on the Driftscape app;
- Coordinate marketing opportunities with Travel Manitoba, acting as a liaison with members, ensuring broad participation;
- Advise the Board of emerging trends and marketing opportunities;
- Provide interpretation of monthly website visitation and social media metrics;
- Participate in tourism-specific professional development opportunities.
- Regional Tourism Inventory and Training
- Develop and execute marketing strategies for the Interlake Region.
- Oversee the ITA’s website, social media and digital communications.
- Create engaging content for print and digital campaigns, including brochures, travel guides, and signage.
- Partner with Travel Manitoba and stakeholders to maximize tourism promotion.
- Tourism Inventory and Training
- Maintain partnerships with regional development agencies to share and maintain tourism inventory data.
- Promote industry training and act as a liaison between tourism operators, municipalities, and training agencies.
- Coordinate requests for training sessions within the region.
- Distribute materials to members and tourism partners throughout Manitoba.
- Special Projects and Committees
- Develop and review the roles of various working committees as required.
- Assist committees in presenting project plans to the Board for approval.
- Provide project support, including grant applications, reports, finances, and coordination.
What we’re looking for:
Candidates should possess the following minimum qualifications:
- Successful completion of a post-secondary Diploma or Degree in either Marketing, Communications, Tourism, or equivalent education and experience in a related field.
- 2+ years of management or supervisory experience (tourism experience a bonus!)
- Demonstrated strong administrative, financial, and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills;
- Proficiency in using digital communication tools and platforms such as Adobe Suite, Microsoft 365, Canva, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, WordPress;
- Experience in event planning and coordination.
- Experience in managing and tracking social media accounts.
Experience in photography, videography, and editing.
- Experience in public speaking and presenting materials.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Possess a valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver’s License.
- Have an existing business or be willing to create if awarded the contract.
Knowledge of Manitoba’s tourism industry? That’s a major plus!

This is a remote contract position, but you must be a Manitoba resident, with priority given to applicants from the Interlake region. The role requires regular attendance at Interlake Festivals/Events and Member Destination with occasional attendance at events across the province. Mileage will only be reimbursed for travel exceeding a three-hour one-way trip.
Compensation:
The annual pay for this contract role ranges from $55,000–$69,000, inclusive of any subcontracted work.
