The Prairie Dog Central’s 50th Anniversary Celebration!
July 12, 2020
July 1st, 1970 marked the first official run for the Prairie Dog Central. An amazing achievement that grew from a dream to reality due to the hard work and dedication of our forefathers. Travelling along the CP line from Winnipeg to Lower Fort Garry we welcomed special guests, Prime Minister Elliot Trudeau and members of the Manitoba Legislature onboard. 50 years later and we are still trundling along, welcoming thousands of passengers onboard each season. The past 50 years have not been without issue and certainly haven’t always been easy, but with the commitment of our volunteers who have put in hundreds of thousands of hours we look forward to the next 50 years! Enjoy onboard entertainment and live presentations as we travel to the rural community of Grosse Isle. Bring along your own home packed basket or delight in the home baked pies, pastries, hot dogs and smokies freshly prepared by the locals. No celebration would be complete without cake so join us back at the Station for a 50th celebration cupcake!
