Saturday September 2 – Family Fun Day

Diesel Locomotive

Hop onboard for a day that is going to be a complete sensory overload, there’s something for everyone on the PDCR today! The Audayo Brothers will entertain with onboard live music as we make our way to Grosse Isle. There are balloon animals for all of the kids onboard. Visit the volunteers in the Heritage House, East Rosser School and take a moment in the Church. A magic show will wrap up this fun filled day before we head back to the city. Bring along your own home packed basket or delight in the baked pies, pastries, hot dogs and smokies freshly prepared by the locals. Book early so you don’t miss this entertaining and amusing packed day.

Sunday September 3 – Mystical Magic Train

Diesel Locomotive

Hop onboard as we head to the rural community of Grosse Isle. Awaiting our arrival is Gregoire the Astonisher. Pick up a freshly prepared hotdog or smokie along with some baked goods or ice cream and grab your front row seat as we await the show. Patrick’s 45-minute fun and fully interactive performance will have you marvelling in the trickery and sleight of hand. Before we depart and head back to the city make sure you take a walk through the beautifully restored buildings making up the Heritage Village.

Monday September 4 – Lazy Labour Day

Sit back, relax and unwind onboard the Prairie Dog Central this holiday Monday. Lose yourself in the open prairies as we travel to the rural community of Grosse Isle. During the stopover take a walk through our 1882 steam locomotive and see the Engineer and Fireman at work. Take a stroll through the beautifully restored Heritage House and East Rosser School before taking a moment in the Church. Indulge in a freshly prepared hotdog or smokie, pick up some made-from-scratch baking and kick back and enjoy the live music by Prairie Dog favourite the Audayo Brothers.

Sunday September 10 – Great Train Robbery (Bonnie and Clyde)

Steam Locomotive

Rumour has it that Bonnie and Clyde and their gang of bandits are up to their old tricks and looking to rob the next passenger train they encounter. Keep your eyes peeled as we make our way up the track. Inform our onboard staff if you see anything suspicious, they have been spotted driving a vintage, bullet-riddled vehicle. Be prepared to hand over any spare change should they manage to capture us. During the stopover enjoy your home-prepared picnic or indulge in a freshly prepared hotdog or smokie, leaving space for a baked dessert. Visit the onsite vendors and stop by as Bonnie, Clyde and the gang join us for photographs. Stroll through the Heritage Village before enjoying the live music by the Audayo Brothers.

Saturday September 16 – All Aboard featuring Chris without the Hat

As the mighty diesel locomotive rumbles up the line to Grosse Isle, we look forward to a day filled with family fun and entertainment featuring Winnipeg favourite, Chris Without the Hat. During the train ride Chris will sketch personal caricatures for all the children onboard before performing his jaw dropping juggling act during the stopover. Bring along your own home packed basket or relish the baked pies, pastries, hot dogs and smokies freshly prepared by the locals. Visit the various buildings that make up the Heritage Village and marvel in the restoration work before we take the train back to Inkster Junction Station.

Rumour has it that the gang of horseback robbers are up to their old tricks and are looking to rob the next passenger train they encounter. Keep a look out as we make our way up the track. Inform our onboard staff if you see anything suspicious. Be ready to hand over any spare change you have if they manage to board the train. During the stopover enjoy a freshly prepared hotdog or smokie, leaving space for yummy baked desserts or bring your home-prepared picnic. Visit the onsite vendors and stop by the horseback riders as they join us for photographs. Stroll through the Heritage Village before enjoying the live music by the Audayo Brothers.

Saturday September 30 – Great Train Robbery (Cowboys and Gals)

It’s the last run of the regular season and yet again it has been reported that those brazen Cowboys ‘n Gals have been sighted up the line. Rumour has it that they`re looking to board the next passenger train they come across. It is imperative that we all remain alert as we try to dodge the robbers this time. Be prepared to hand over any spare change should the need arise. During the stopover enjoy freshly prepared hot dogs and smokies or delicious baked goods while relaxing to the live tunes by the Audayo Brothers. Visit the beautifully restored Heritage House, the East Rosser School or take a moment in the Church before we take a leisurely ride back to the city.
