Stillvik Cottage (Grindstone Provincial Park)

The cottage sits at Grindstone Provincial Park on the west shore of Lake Winnipeg — close to beaches, boating, fishing, hiking, and a few of the small towns and weekend stops that make the Interlake what it is.

It’s a contemporary nordic-inspired cottage. Clean-lined, simple but fully equipped, traditional but modern. Built for the way light moves through the woods. It’s two hours north of Winnipeg, set back from the lake near the limestone cliffs of Grindstone Provincial Park.

Two bedrooms — a king and a double — sleep four. There’s a full kitchen if you want to cook, a wood stove for the cool end of the season, and WiFi if you want to stream or have to keep one foot in the workweek. The deck faces east, so the morning sun lands there first — there’s a chair where you can sit with coffee and watch the birds. The light tracks around the cottage through the day: the south side by mid-afternoon, the whole place warm by evening.

It’s winterized and open year-round. The whole cottage is yours during your stay. I’m not on site; my office is the only locked door. Check-in is by smart lock.
