Step off Main Street and into Riverton’s story at the Riverton Transportation & Heritage Centre, housed in the community’s beautifully restored historic railway station.
Once an important link between Riverton and communities to the south, the railway helped shape the town and connect the region to the rest of Manitoba. Today, the station has been preserved as a welcoming place to discover the people, industries and transportation that helped build Riverton and the surrounding Interlake.
Inside, photographs, artifacts and local stories explore Riverton’s history by land, water, air and rail. Discover the community’s Icelandic roots, learn about the people and businesses that shaped the area, and explore exhibits celebrating local life and achievement — including the Reggie Leach Museum Room, honouring Riverton-born NHL legend and Stanley Cup champion Reggie Leach.
Outside, visitors can explore the museum grounds, see the restored railway caboose and stop for a photo with Lundi the Moose, one of Riverton’s most recognizable landmarks. The grounds also make a beautiful backdrop for photography.

The Riverton Transportation & Heritage Centre is located on Reggie Leach Drive in Riverton, Manitoba, next to Lundi the Moose.
The Centre is regularly open during July and August, with tours, school visits, group visits and special bookings available by reservation outside regular hours.
Admission is free. Donations are gratefully accepted and help preserve and share Riverton’s history for future generations.
